Our take

Le Bora Bora is the resort we suggest when a couple wants Bora Bora's lagoon and mountain view without the price of the big international names. The Otemanu Overwater Bungalows give the classic view; the Pool Overwater Villa at the end of the pontoon adds a private pool. The food is a genuine strength — three restaurants, with Poerava for a special dinner — and the solar catamaran sunset cruise is unique to the resort.

Who it suits

Couples and honeymooners who value Polynesian character and good value over brand polish, and families who want a pool villa with a child under 13.
