Be prepared to put away your shoes and switch modes to Six Senses signature Slow Life – welcome to barefoot eco-luxury. It has been said that once you’ve experienced a Six Senses resort, you’re a fan for life. Barefoot living, villas crafted from locally sourced sustainable materials, organic meals grown from the island’s organic garden along with holistic Ayurvedic spa treatments may give you the impression that it’s all a bit ‘mung bean-like’. However, you can be assured, eco-friendly here by no means equate to you having to forgo any creature comforts, trust us, mod cons are replete in spades.
Did you know Maldives’ largest overwater dining facility is right here at Six Senses Laamu? The amazing structure sports two restaurants ‘Longitude’ and ‘Zen’, a wine cellar and deli ‘Altitude’, a multi-levelled bar ‘Chill’, and a chocolate studio and ice-cream parlour ‘ICE,’ as well as a retail boutique shop and a dive centre. And that’s just over the water. On land, adjacent to the resort’s pool, there’s a sunken bar ‘Sip Sip’, a library ‘Den’, an organic Garden with a Chilli Table that serves a 5-course chilli degustation menu and the ever popular Leaf restaurant.
With so many varied activities on offer, a week’s stay is almost not enough. There’s a host of activities on offer, from kayaking, catamaran sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, windsurfing, diving and fishing, and yoga. Surf’s up between May to September with YinYang Surf Break, one of Maldives’ most famous breaks just nearby. On the other end of the continuum, picnics on a deserted beach, sunset cruises, wine cellar tasting & pairing experiences, and a private dinner on the beach are all activities worth signing up for.
Cinema Under the Stars is simply that! Lounge back and enjoy movies in the open-air, under the Maldivian sky every Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. Of course, there will be popcorn and refreshments.
