We were lucky to have superb weather

We had a great time thank you on both our wedding day and our honeymoon. I’m very glad we didn’t try to fly Qantas with the early Sunday flight times – it was tough enough getting back, unpacking and repacking for the afternoon flight via Air NZ

We were lucky to have superb weather and despite it being rainy season, it barely rained at all (either during the night or, in a 5 min burst). Was nice that it was low season too which meant the resort was quite empty – it gave it a very laid back, quiet fell which was perfect for us, while still having the amenities of a larger resort to enjoy.

We mixed up our days between doing nothing but enjoy the surrounds, and a day where we planned something. My Best man had arranged the full day tour from Lagoon Service to do sting ray and shark feeds, snorkelling and a beachside lunch – that was great. We also booked into the Naytura 4×4 tour of Vaitape and surrounds which was enjoyable. We also spent an afternoon enjoying the Thalasso Spa at the Intercont and their daily sting ray feeding from their beach.

At Le Meridien we enjoyed the on-premise turtle sanctuary and the briefing given by the marine biologist – we booked in for a snorkel with them one morning (but in truth, you prob see them more clearly from land during the daily feeding). Snorkelling in the inner lagoon of the resort also offered good viewing with some small bits of coral offering a good array of fish to look at. The bungalow was nice, service friendly, and I appreciated that they were able to transfer us to a bungalow over deeper water – that enabled us to swim from the bungalow at night without fear of stepping on any sea urchins / starfish and the like. I’m glad we pre-booked dinner and breakfasts given food definitely not cheap at the hotel – I was happy with the meals we had although we did suggest they could do with more veggies being offered at dinner – no options ofr a side dish of a salad or leafy veg for instance. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the resort.

Other feedback was that the local tour company made the transfers smooth and easy. Our flight was delayed from Bora Bora back to Papeete which made the connecting flight tight. The local tour group was there to meet us and help us transfer. We had a delayed flight on the way there which was  a bummer as it meant we had 8 hours to kill in auckland  – instead of ariving in Papeete to enjoy an afternoon swim and cocktail, we only got in a touch before midnight. But again, good to be met by the local tour company for the transfer to the hotel, and the Intercont in Papeete was good.

Thanks for your help with the organisation of the trip.

One question I had was to ask how we transfer the money sitting in the registry back to our account. Also how long will the registry stay open, in case we have a late present giver or two…

Thanks,
CH & Kate
