Our take

Le Méridien is the island we suggest when a family wants brand reliability with more personality than most. The mid-century design is genuinely distinctive, the marine hub gives children something real to do, and parents can retreat to La Vie or the adults-only pool. Honeymooners should look at the Overwater Pool Villas; larger families at the two-bedroom villas or the three-bedroom Thilamaafushi Villa. We will confirm villa sizes and occupancy from the live system, since the resort does not publish them.

Who it suits

Families, design-minded couples and Marriott Bonvoy loyalists who want a lively, well-run island. Less suited to anyone wanting a tiny, hushed retreat.
